Your comment makes excellent points, and in truth you're absolutely right. I'm very fortunate to live in a country only loosely influenced by the Vatican as opposed to an Islamic country where even the concept of freedom is foreign.
I worry more about the vatican because their appearance of reason lends them so much more credibility here. America would never submit to radical Islam, but we could very well be (and some would argue we already have been) eased into a theocracy if we aren't extremely vigilant.
